Chance encourages us to replace the desire to comprehend and control all, to subjugate the world to our will, with being comfortable at the wonder of ‘unknowing’ and - just maybe - the chance to meet your Doppelgänger.
Chance also occurs in the intentional contrast between the geometric abstraction and the more painterly areas of the works.
This juxtaposition is intentional, in that it highlights the axiom that “Life is what happens to you while you’re busy making other plans” - Man intends one thing, Fate another – and the two will always be bound.
