This painting uses language to create an image in the mind of the viewer and acts as an homage to time and the memory of spring arriving after winter. It is part of a larger metaphorical practice that utilizes language and painting to explore notions of memory, time, and ritual. This work, Untitled (the hue seed), arose after moving to Taranaki from Tāmaki Makaurau and noticing the change and impact of the seasons more profoundly.
