Artist

Chloe Mason

While I love cameras, I am a bit disenchanted with the sometimes extractive process of ‘taking’ a photograph. I find that alternative processes help me to connect with every single material involved.

From the strength of the sun’s rays to the health of the water, I have a new awareness of photography’s intense relationship between the human and non-human.

In my practice, I aim to consolidate time spent in both natural environments and the darkroom, where I acknowledge parallels between eco-somatic experience, analog photography and filmmaking.

I am currently drawing from new materialist and hydro-feminist theory in order to document the ways non-human entities already represent themselves.
