Glass Cyanotype
210mm (H) x 148mm (W)
Unframed
A glass cyanotype of Ōtari-Wilton’s Bush.
Please note that each plate comes with its own unique imperfections, like emulsion lifts and scratches and is sold unframed.
Cyanotype is an archival process, so the artwork does not need protecting from sunlight with UV glass. However, the artist recommends mounting the glass plate within a frame using small brackets, similar to this example here.
While I love cameras, I am a bit disenchanted with the sometimes extractive process of ‘taking’ a photograph. I find that alternative processes help me to connect with every single material involved.
From the strength of the sun’s rays to the health of the water, I have a new awareness of photography’s intense relationship between the human and non-human.
In my practice, I aim to consolidate time spent in both natural environments and the darkroom, where I acknowledge parallels between eco-somatic experience, analog photography and filmmaking.
I am currently drawing from new materialist and hydro-feminist theory in order to document the ways non-human entities already represent themselves.
