Linda Gilbert is an abstract painter from Aotearoa, New Zealand. She describes her paintings as ‘energy maps’. She is intrigued by unseen but felt energies that swirl around us. These can relate to the earth, people or particular spaces and places. Incorporating techniques used by the Surrealists, Gilbert draws on contemporary ideas relating to consciousness, sensory perception and earth sciences. She holds a Bachelor of Visual Arts from AUT University, Auckland, (2018) and a Masters of Fine Art (Painting) from Whitecliffe College of Art and Design, Auckland (2022).
