Boat & Mountains is a ceramic sculpture with glass and light elements. If you look closely inside the glass face you can see a small figure of a girl on a boat amongst the mountains. This sculpture gives a seductive glow in the dark. The carved, lit up faces on the exterior of each of my vessels mask an interior world of private thoughts, trials and dreams. Using the landscapes from my childhood memories, this series of works seeks to create a reflection of myself and my lived experience. Depictions on the inside of the sculptures further communicate snippets of my personal story. These forms are a portrait of the artist in the way that a child is a portrait of their mother.
