Artist Statement

Observing the vibrancy, beauty and symbolism of flora, this image houses buried matter in its shadows - literally and metaphorically. Referencing an everyday floral arrangement, this ‘mash-up’ grafts flora in an environment suggestive of the built environment. With a nod to Dutch still life paintings of the 17th century, it records everyday residue from 21st century human activity.
