In this series of line studies, figures gracefully transform within confined spaces. These compositions depict the challenges of fitting in and adapting to societal norms. The narrative unfolds with economy, where every emotion and struggle is elegantly expressed through the minimalist language of line work and negative space.
Sarah Bookman (M.Arch Prof) is a designer based in Te Whanganui-a-Tara Wellington, Aotearoa New Zealand. While working in architecture, Sarah continues to use painting and drawing as an essential part of her design process. The nature of architecture, a creative yet professional service based industry, has led her to reflect on the rift between this and her artistic practice to inform her work.
Exploring the fluidity of the human body, form in space, colour play, geometry contrasted with flow and mass; her visual repertoire is developing an emerging unique art practice.
