Oil paint on rabbit skin gesso on board

Layers of oil paint built up over months, creating a soft pasture of sorts, a meadow, a space that you could sink into, a modernist "band" of black along the bottom of the piece grounds the work
Jana received her Bachelor of Visual Arts from AUT in 2015, and Post Graduate Diploma Fine Arts from Elam in 2018. Her work is held in various private collections both here and overseas.
Her semi-abstract works continues an on-going expression of connection to place and investigation of space - at Port Waikato, where she now lives and works. Despite the obvious connection to all things natural , there is always the organised assemblage of land present in her works, the grid omnipresent — representative of the culture-nature divide.
