Artist Statement

In this moment, my presence and process is recorded simultaneously like evidence of an event. I am interested in the idea that our bodies are not only experienced as static objects but as living breathing moving bodies that think and feel, act and react.

About the Artist

Mo Stewart

I am a South African born artist, residing in Ōtautahi, Christchurch, New Zealand.

My practice involves the performative aspect of drawing as well as art as an image of representation. The techniques I use emphasise this body in motion, in space and in a finite moment in time. I am interested in presenting a living breathing body as it appears in three-dimensional space rather than static image of representation.

I am currently in the final year of studying for a master’s in fine art at Whitecliffe College in Tāmaki Makaurau, Auckland.
