Drawing for me is always instantaneous, fragile and of the moment. I use limitations on time, number of moves and materials to isolate, interrupt, and draw attention to my first-person experience of making in that moment. This places an emphasis on the moment of making rather than predetermined outcome.
I am a South African born artist, residing in Ōtautahi, Christchurch, New Zealand.
My practice involves the performative aspect of drawing as well as art as an image of representation. The techniques I use emphasise this body in motion, in space and in a finite moment in time. I am interested in presenting a living breathing body as it appears in three-dimensional space rather than static image of representation.
I am currently in the final year of studying for a master’s in fine art at Whitecliffe College in Tāmaki Makaurau, Auckland.
