Named after the last movement made on the surface, this work represents both reservoir of materials and traces of action in the moment of making. My approach to making is grounded in the way I habitually move and live in the world. My moves are ordinary, everyday moves, like wiping the kitchen counter, rolling over in bed, shoving dirt while gardening, and rubbing that tough spot of muck I messed off on the wall.
I am a South African born artist, residing in Ōtautahi, Christchurch, New Zealand.
My practice involves the performative aspect of drawing as well as art as an image of representation. The techniques I use emphasise this body in motion, in space and in a finite moment in time. I am interested in presenting a living breathing body as it appears in three-dimensional space rather than static image of representation.
I am currently in the final year of studying for a master’s in fine art at Whitecliffe College in Tāmaki Makaurau, Auckland.
