Sterling eye clasp: 50mm (W) x 60mm (H)

2mm Stirling silver wire is shaped by the artist by hand.
The high lustre freshwater pearls display natural variations in off-white colour and size, ranging from 10-12mm. The necklace is strung on silk cord, using a Japanese knotting technique.

Artist Statement

Tears are emotion, true feelings, sincerity. When they drop, they release tension and pressure, and if they reach the ground, they might even feed dryness!

When tears drop, they feed us too.


The outline for the Stirling silver feature eye is inspired by Matisse.

About the Artist

Beatrice Carlson

Beatrice Carlson is an interdisciplinary artist with a French fashion design background. 

As a 10 times finalist of the World of WearableArt Awards (2010-2019), she creates now one off pieces, handmade in her Devonport jewellery studio working mainly with sterling silver and semi-precious gemstones.

For the last five years, Carlson's jewellery has been exploring the function of the body, its proper language and position in society.

Her narrative is about attitude towards adornment, recycling/upcycling, ageing, and Covid impact.
